Delta 3D Printer is Complete
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted, and it’s been a long time building this delta 3D printer. But I am done!
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted, and it’s been a long time building this delta 3D printer. But I am done!
Quick update – I have completed the main wiring of the printer. I have also started working on the hot end mount and extruder side of things while I wait for my GT2 belts to arrive.
I’ve waited all my life for this moment… Not really, but I have waited a few months. A friend was able to lend me some T5 belts and pulleys while I wait for my GT2 belts so I could test run the printer now.
In the original design a joint that allowed the delta arms to pivot along two axes was purely a bush fitting, which would eventually loosen and create backlash. I decided to make a version that incorporated small bearings to increase the smoothness and prevent backlash.
Things are really starting to come together. I’ve been hard at work in the workshop the past few days and have finished all delta components apart from the arms.
I have been following the reprap project for a few years now and fell in love with the first video I saw of a small machine moving around frantically, extruding plastic layer by layer to create a 3D object.
