For my upcoming R2-D2 robot I needed a dome. More than that, a intricately detailed dome. I immediately knew my 3 axis CNC wouldn’t cut the mustard and neither would my 3D printer (footprint too small). I have always wanted to make a 5 axis CNC with rotary axes… Let’s go.
Have I got some new projects for you guys! 1/2 scale R2-D2 fully actuated droid with Raspberry Pi and camera vision, 4 axis (two cartesian axes, two rotary axes) for machining R2-D2’s head, Spherical hexapod robot and Gameboy original powered with Raspberry Pi Zero. I will be posting lots of updates on the projects here …
Been working some long hours in the workshop and made great progress on the Delta 3D Printer! I have the three main structural pieces and motor mounts finished. I have also almost finished the electronics enclosure.
When I first brought couplings I didn’t read too much into the different types or what is best etc. Needless to say I ended up with some couplings that really didn’t work well. I managed to track down some new couplings and I think my CNC will be much better off for having them.
About 5 years ago I discovered CNC machines, at first I was very confused but then became very excited. A machine that can cut out whatever I design? Where do I sign up?!
