Rod Clamps

With my frame design I needed a way that I could clamp down on the 8mm linear rods to keep them in place. The answer was 12 little clamps that mount directly to the frame.

The rod clamps were made on the CNC from 10mm rigid PVC sheet. They are nice and strong and clamp very tightly onto the 8mm steel rods. Like with my other parts so far I needed holes on an angle that my CNC couldn’t do so I made a jig to help me out.

The clamps mount via two M5 bolts and have a M4 bolt that runs through the two split halves that works as the clamp. There are six clamps on each of the two main frame pieces, twelve clamps in total.

The clamps will make the top frame piece adjustable so I can tighten the belts by just sliding the top frame piece higher and then tightening down the clamps.

So just a quick update. I’m busy finalizing the design for all the Delta robots mechanical pieces. A particular piece (The joint that the arms hinge from) I need made on a 3D printer because there are some things a CNC can’t do! I don’t have a 3D printer so I’m in the process of trying to find someone who can print it out for me.

More updates will follow soon!
