3D Printer

Big 3D Printer #BFP

200 x 200mm cubed print area just wasn’t going to cut the mustard anymore. Using a big 3D printer with a 300 x 300mm print area changed me forever. After two years of designing and building I present to you my printer the BFP: Big F… Printer!

Delta Printer First Run

I’ve waited all my life for this moment… Not really, but I have waited a few months. A friend was able to lend me some T5 belts and pulleys while I wait for my GT2 belts so I could test run the printer now.

Platform and Carriages Finished

Finally the platform and the three carriages are complete! It’s been quite a challenge making these on my CNC router but I’ve pulled it off. This 3D printer is getting closer and closer to completion.

Delta Printer Update

Hot end, top bearing block, finished version 2 carriages and platform and new delta arms. Things are slowly coming together for my 3D printer, but I still have a lot of work to do!

Bearing Joints

In the original design a joint that allowed the delta arms to pivot along two axes was purely a bush fitting, which would eventually loosen and create backlash. I decided to make a version that incorporated small bearings to increase the smoothness and prevent backlash.

Electronic Boxes

Personally when I’m doing a project that involves electronics I HAVE to build a sturdy enclosure for them. It took me a good while but I now have both a nice power supply case and a Arduino/RAMPS case.

Delta Components

Things are really starting to come together. I’ve been hard at work in the workshop the past few days and have finished all delta components apart from the arms.

Rod Clamps

With my frame design I needed a way that I could clamp down on the 8mm linear rods to keep them in place. The answer was 12 little clamps that mount directly to the frame.
